About
I want others to understand that no being is an isolated force and to look within themselves for self growth and to expand their perspective. I believe that contemplation is a response to our external experiences and their affects on our own internal contents. I carry with me every dilapidated abandoned building I’ve explored, every solitary hike I’ve trekked, every unusual encounter with a stranger, the philosophy I’ve read, our food, violence, dreams, and where we as individuals fit into society. During my introspective and contemplative creative process, I create paintings, drawings, and collages with an intention to spur on reflective thought that evolves into responsive action. My personal symbolism reoccurs throughout the different media I work with. Candles, corsets, ribs, and empty eyes litter my work as juxtaposing symbols and express my message that things will only change for the better when we first identify what parts of ourselves need changing.
